Overview
Toyota’s first EV in the bZ series, jointly developed with partner Subaru, is an SUV-type BEV ) released in May 2022.
The range is 559 km for FWD and 540 km for 4WD. Vehicle prices are 6 million JPY for FWD and 6.5 million JPY for 4WD.
- Notably, this vehicle features the ESU (Electricity Supply Unit) (manufactured by Denso), which combines a charger and a DC-DC converter, marking Toyota’s first integration of this unit.
Product Features
- The ESU performs AC-to-DC voltage conversion to charge the BEV’s high-voltage battery.
- The mixed-load DC-DC converter steps down the BEV’s high-voltage battery (355V) to 12V.
- The unit case incorporates cooling water channels, optimizing heat dissipation by arranging the onboard charger and DC-DC converter in a compact, integrated design. This achieves a 23% reduction in size and a 17% weight reduction compared to separate installations.
