Overview
EV’s thermal management system is undergoing a major transition from decentralization to integrated control.
Tesla’s thermal management is used all water-cooled except for air conditioning. In contrast, BYD SEAL uses water-cooled system only for inverter and motor, and direct cooling with refrigerants for other thermal management systems including battery. The refrigerant circuit connects the electric compressor, condenser outside the vehicle, the condenser and evaporator of the air conditioning system and battery by refrigerant piping, and heating/cooling is performed by opening and closing solenoid valves.
This is the circuit analysis report for the control board of the electric compressor, one of the component used for thermal management in BYD SEAL.
Product features
- PTC heater is also used, which is controlled by an electric compressor control board.
- Size: φ124 x 260 mm, weight: 8.4 kg, discharge capacity: 34 cc (estimated), input voltage: 409 V, and refrigerant: R134a
- The power device uses IGBT manufactured by BYD, the gate driver of PTC heater uses IC manufactured by NOVOSENSE, and the motor gate driver uses IC manufactured by SILLUMIN.
