Report overview

With LCDs, light leakage from the backlight hinders contrast improvement. As a countermeasure to this problem, there is a local dimming technology that controls the brightness of the backlight depending on the displayed image.

This time, LTEC released an analysis report of LCD panel that implements local dimming by adopting a mini LED backlight with smaller LEDs and an increased number of divisions.in iPad Pro 12.9 inch (5th Gene.)

Anode (cathode) and cathode (anode) are respectively connected to the wiring in the horizontal direction and to the wiring in the perpendicular direction. The perpendicular wiring is connected to the LED driver.

Display area is divided to 2596 (44 x 59) areas. In each area, four LEDs are mounted. Overall, approximately 10,000 LEDs are mounted.
