Voltage Converter:Panasonic (Mercedes-Benz EQS (2021)) Teardown Report
Overview | PCB |
Overview
With the spread of electrification of cars and self-driving systems, the power consumption in cars is increasing, and DC-DC converters used for charging auxiliary equipment are required to have higher current and power capacity. For DC-DC converter unit, it is required to be integrated with other units, and to be smaller and lighter as a single unit.
LTEC released two reports of Panasonic’s Voltage Converter equipped in Mercedes EQS (EV) 2021 model.
Product characteristics
- The battery: 108.4kWh/396V
- Product size: 250 x 188 x 85 mm3 / Weight: 5.0kg
- There are three input orange connectors, and the two power supply wires from each connector are shorted to the two input filter circuit wires on the board. Also, the film capacitor breakdown voltage of the input filter circuit is 275Vac, so the two wires are L1 (L2, L3) and the middle wire, and there is a possibility of AC input.
- The primary side: Semi-Bridgeless PFC module (650V) and H-Bridge (650V) module made by ONsemiconductor.
- The secondary side: Discrete type Infineon MOSFET (80V, 40V)
