Overview

The IONIQ5, a highly acclaimed new electric vehicle from Hyundai Motor has gained recognition worldwide. It was launched in South Korea in April 2021, and available in Japan from May 2022.
The IONIQ 5 boasts an impressive single-charge range of 618 kilometers (for the top-tier grade) and a vehicle price starting at ¥5.19 million. It offers a competitive price point compared to domestically produced EVs. The IONIQ 5 has received high praise globally, particularly in Europe and the United States. The front inverter features Infineon-manufactured power modules (the latest model) and does not include current sensors.
This report provides a teardown analysis of the front inverter unit manufactured by Hyundai MOBIS.

Rear/Four-Wheel Drive with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors. For this analysis, we are considering four-wheel drive.
Inverter Specifications : (Water-cooled) with dimensions of (W)358mm x (L)250mm x (H)128.5mm, weighing 3.94kg. Manufactured by Hyundai Mobis. 225kW (Front: 70kW, Rear: 155kW).
Equipped with IGBT power cards (Type: 378000E150, M8Y4731) from Infineon, featuring dual-sided cooling.
Battery Capacity: 72.6kWh / 111.2Ah (Lithium-ion battery).
